Jon is more a fan of savory than sweet snacks and has been requesting more of those, so prepare yourself for more salt & savor in the near future! This cheesy bread was a fun adventure, and while the game we played is one I’ve already written about, I realized 1) each play is a new experience and 2) I only have so many games, so eventually we’ll be circling back around to things I might have talked about before. BUT I promise you at least one new thing (recipe and/or game) per post!

The Cheesy Bread

This cheesy bread was exciting to put together. I do detest chopping herbs, especially tiny ones like thyme, but it really does make a difference. I *may* have added a tad too much garlic for my slightly sensitive husband’s taste, but you do you. I was so pleased with how well the yeast bloomed and dough rose for this! It’s always a bit nerve-wrecking as those things can be a bit finicky sometimes.
I will say, this recipe uses a lot of ‘butter’, so brace yourself for that. There’s butter in the dough and then obviously more for the in between gooeyness. It was quite fun making the little stacks of dough, butter, and cheese, slicing them like a sandwich, and then stuffing them into my loaf pan. I served it for 5 of us and there was hardly any left! People were delighted by it and despite it not being my usual sweet treat, the carb lover in me was also quite happy.

The Cheesy Resources

I previously talked about Orleans here, for a throwback Thursday, but it had been too long since I played it! We had with us that evening 2 people who have lived in France, one whose family is of French origin and had been there multiple times, and two others who have also made trips to France. Plus we all love a crunchy co-op! So it seemed an appropriate game to play.
The first time we lost, but …that was just a practice round haha. Three of us had played it before, but 2 were new and getting the hang of balancing personal goals with group goals. Since it’s such a pain to set up, we decided to make the most of it already being out and play it again, this time to win! And we did! It took till the very last round, but we made it, with actions to spare! This is such a good co-op that really does require both communication and cooperation. I love that you can’t really alpha game it since a lot of it is simultaneous, but you can and must communicate and coordinate (unlike limited communication co-ops). The roles range in difficulty which is nice for added challenges. Overall this is such a winner in our books!
