Feature Friday: Wizard’s Loft

When featuring things, might as well start close to home, right? So let’s talk about our nearest and most frequented game cafe, Wizard’s Loft! Part game store, part game cafe, we try to go every month or two for a date day to check out new-to-us games. Game cafes are such a great concept. I love a good outing to get a hot drink, I love checking out new games. Why not put them together? (Honestly, it’s been a pipe dream of mine to run a game cafe).

Wizard’s Loft has a pretty great lending library, with occasional swaps for newer things. We constantly have a running list of games to try next when we’re there. The staff are super nice and helpful, and whenver we can’t find a game there that we want to buy they are always happy to order it for us if possible. In the two and a half years that we’ve lived here, we’ve been over 10 times for an afternoon of coffee and games, and bought around five of the ones we’ve tried. What a great business strategy haha.

They’re currently renovating and expanding their store, which is exciting! The event area will be expanded, as will their display of games for purchase. They have minimal food for purchase, things like muffins, chips, etc. (Rarely vegan 😭), and veggie wraps. Hopefully they can expand that at some point.

Overall, Wizard’s Loft is great asset to have in Red Deer, and if you’re in the area you should check them out!
