Feature Friday: El Jardin De Jazmin

It’s another El Jardin, haha! Last week’s Feature Friday was El Jardin Healthy Food and Coffee in Cusco, today’s is El Jardin De Jazmin in Lima! While both restaurants have garden in their name, they are actually quite different! Let’s talk about Lima!

Self-described as Peru’s first vegan restaurant and beginning in 2013, El Jardin De Jazmin has a fantastic all gluten free and all vegan menu, perfect for us and my celiac sister-in-law! We went here for a lupper during our one day in Lima, and were overwhelmed by the selection. We ended up sharing between the three of us the Empanaditas, Asparagus Tartar, Mini Causas, Palta Brasa, and Picarones. Everything was amazing! I loved the little empanaditas (and it’s so fun to say!), the asparagus tartar had this amazing avocado hummus, the causas were unique and cultural, an oh my goodness, that ‘burger’! I’ve never seen avocados big enough to serve as buns before, it was insane(ly delicous)! The picarones were lovely little dough balls with a nice vegan ice cream. It was so fun to be able to go in, order whatever we wanted without having to worry or interrogate the server about ingredients.

Speaking of which, the main server we had also spoke French (she was part Belgian I believe?), which was a relief and a joy for me, since my French is much better than my Spanish. She was super friendly and helpful with the menu.

The location, both inside and out, is super cute. It’s tucked back a little bit in a section of shops and restaurants in Miraflores, away from the busy roads. The interior is tiny and charming.

We definitely wish we’d had more time in Lima to enjoy more items from the menu. If you’re ever in Lima, do check it out!

Location: Av. Alfredo Benavides 571, Miraflores 15074, Peru
