Peanut Butter & the Prince of Thieves

For a recent two player game night, Jon and I whipped up our favorite bi-weekly treat and sat down to one of Uwe Rosenberg’s hidden gems. As always, check out the At a Glance tables for the quick stats, link to the recipe, and more!

PB Chocolate Crunch Blizzards

One of my favorite treats in my pre vegan days was Dairy Queen blizzards, specifically heath or peanut butter cup. So when I saw years ago that Oh She Glows had a recipe for PB blizzards, made from frozen bananas, and I knew it was destiny. With a little pre planning and prep, these blizzards are so easy to whip up on the fly and have become a tradition for us to have every Friday night and often mid week as well. First, freeze 3 large bananas, the less brown the better. Then make the PB dough balls (or make multiple batches long in advance and freeze them like I do!). The balls are quick, mixing nuts, oats, PB, syrup, chocolate chips, rice krispies, etc. Then blend up the bananas, 5 of those balls, another spoonful of PB, and a dash of milk, and voila! PB blizzards! This is one of the reasons we need a reliable blender and why it gets so much use. Get your Ninja here! These blizzards are super flexible. You can add candy bits, graham crackers, hemp hearts, broken up cookie bits, whatever floats your boat! It’s all amazing. They are dense, but have nutritional value. I love being able to still have my blizzards without needing a fancy ice cream maker or anything.

Robin of Locksley

This is definitely one of Uwe Rosenberg’s underrated gems that has flown under the radar! In it, you are moving your little knights in an L shaped pattern grabbing gems where you land. The gems are used to fulfill goals around the edge of the board. You can also sell sets of gems to pass on tricky goals. The winner is the first person to meet all the goals around the track, twice. This has such interesting timing to it, deciding when it’s worth spending your sets to get a coin to pass on goals versus just biding your time for a big turn of goal meeting. I find this game clever, tense, and unique! It also works well for a date night since it’s not super head to head. You obviously have to keep an eye on your opponent, but it doesn’t feel like they’re out to get you or block you from things. If you get a chance, check this one out!
