Today’s Feature Friday is highlighting Blue Highway Games– what used to be our FLGS, aka Friendly Local Game Store. To be fair, we used to live in northern Seattle, and Blue Highway is located in Queen Anne. This was a good distance from us where it was close enough to be accessible, but far enough away that we didn’t go all the time and spend all the money 😂. Also, Queen Anne is such a lovely neighborhood that it was a treat to visit it.

Every time we went, it was special. It was sometimes to pick up something we’d ordered from them, or to spend an afternoon getting coffee from the shop next door ( I appreciated that we could bring in outside food and drinks! They were great about supporting their neighboring businesses.) and trying out games from their lending library. As you can see from the picture, this was where we were first introduced to the gem known as Hadrian’s Wall. We also learned the original Canopy here, which led us to back its sequel, Canopy Evergreen.

One of my favorite things about Blue Highway games is its staff and its vibes. Their staff are super friendly, and they even have a consignment option where you could come and sell your games or buy used games. That is such a fantastic option for those who don’t want to deal with marketplace or other tricky options. While it does have trading card game (TCG) events, it didn’t overwhelm the store. As a non TCG player, I appreciated this and felt extremely welcome to just come and peruse their massive board game selection.

All in all, next time you’re in Seattle, look them up! You won’t regret it!
