Feature Friday: Canela Vegan Bakery

Canela Vegan Bakery, self-described by saying “meet Western Canada’s first all-vegan bakery & café making affordable baked goods and handcrafted coffee and non-coffee beverages!”

We’ve only been twice, but that’s only because we don’t get to Calgary very often. Man oh man is this place good! I used to live in France and I basically lived on croissants of various varieties. Ever since becoming a vegan I’m continually on the hunt for good vegan pastries. It’s honestly a good thing we don’t live closer to Calgary or we’d be there a lot more often. So far, we’ve tried their spinach ricotta roll, sausage and cheese roll, pain au chocolat, almond croissant, pistachio croissant, cinnamon roll and it’s all been delightful. Their pastries are “buttery” and flaky, just as a pastry should be.

They have a couple of locations in Calgary, are an animal product, peanut, and cashew free facility, and have some gluten free options. Included below are a few photos of their menu.

If you’re in the Calgary area, go out of your way to check them out!

I’ve been hosting regular game nights with my husband for over 10 years, building community with guided game nights and plant-powered treats. I can’t wait to share my stories of strategy and snacks to help make your next game night a success!
